Jeff Gordon

I’m a graduate student in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. I study¬†organizations, technology, and work using a combination of computational text analysis, interviews, and participant observation.

I’m interested in the influence of artificial intelligence on professional work, the history of data science, failures of authoritarian high modernism, the interplay¬†between regulation and competition, trade-offs between efficiency and liberty, and the changing role of education in society.

Previously, I was a consultant at Education Resource Strategies. I received my B.A. from Yale.

If you’d like to receive weekly summaries and analysis of what I’ve been thinking about, you can sign up here.
